what’s the best bible for easy reading?

I was brought up a strict christian and attended church service weekly, but since having a family my church attendance has petered into non existant. I now find it difficult to attend the local church service on a Sunday morning but I am keen to engage in quiet prayers and would like to buy a bible / prayer book to help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I suggest you try the Good News Bible (Their aim was to use the kind of English a professor would use talking to a workman….ie, scholarly in depth but not in tone)
