Hope Bible Scripture
Are there any scriptures in the Bible about dealing with the death of a child?
We lost our son 16 years old in a car accident in January, and our other son was seriously injured but survived. The weather is not proving to help, actually worsens. We decided to resort to the Bible and the hope of God's words can bring comfort to our hearts. We are Christians, but do not attend church on a regular basis. I do not know where to start when reading the Bible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have the NIV version. Thank you, and only serious answers, not unbelievers please.
Sorry for your loss. The first verse that comes to mind is Ecclesiastes 3:2 a time to be born and a time to die. I can not say it brings great comfort. Verse 4 says: "A time to mourn and a time to dance .. I found Psalm 23 to be a comfort when my 16-year-old died. Colossians 3:3 For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (4) When Christ who is your life appears, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. I was waiting for an answer to why my daughter died, and this was the verse that came to when I opened the Bible. It has brought me comfort also Psalm 139:13 – 16. All our days are known by God before had been born. I hope these help. We just passed the mark of 15 years after the death of our son, and things will get better. I've always felt that God took the largest of the pain when she died, I know it's strange. God bless your family, and her other son. My daughter was saved, and I think that's what led me through it.
